What started as a late night conversation with some good friends of ours (Mike and Wendy at Forged Brewing Co) turned in to Better Daze Winery. Mike enjoys when I tell this story so here goes...late one night after hours Mike, Wendy, my wife Jessica, and myself were sitting around having a few beverages and talking about how they started up Forged Brewing Co and I mentioned that I liked to make wine and that Jessica and I had often talked about starting a winery and doing something we were both passionate about. Mike was quick to say "well do it". Jessica and I talked the next day about possibly coming up with a plan to make our dreams a reality. It wasn't very long after that Mike dropped me a message and said he had a lead on some vessels and wanted to know if we were interested in purchasing them.  I responded with sure I was interested but didn't know what we would do with them at that time. Later that week we were all having dinner together and Mike and Wendy informed us that they bought the vessels for us, my exact response was "so I guess we are doing this NOW" and that is exactly what we did!!

So now about us...my wife Jessica grew up in the big city of Rockdale (note the sarcasm) and I (Darryl) was born and raised in Sidney so we are both locals. Together we have 4 children who you will often see just hanging around the winery. The boys have both taken a liking to giving me a hand with the wine making and we are hoping to get the girls more involved in the tasting room. Jessica and I have always had a passion for visiting as many breweries and wineries as possible, not only for the alcohol (although that's a plus) but mostly for the atmosphere. We had always joked about someday being able to open a winery of our own and well... the opportunity was dropped in our laps so why not take it? I always joke that Jessica usually isn't a fan of my "great ideas" and I don't think she really was this one either, but she also knows that I'm the kind of person who doesn't "jump" unless I'm confident that we can make it work. So here we are, Better Daze Winery!!! Our belief is that "any day is a better day with Better Daze wines" and we sure hope you agree.
